Midsummer Morning Rain

from It Is All an Illusion by Diane Marie Kloba

It's 3 o’clock in the morning and my thoughts woke me up
I can hear thunder in the distance and the wind is picking up
I thought I might write another sad song
Then I thought everyone has their troubles, they don't need to hear about mine
My story is no better or worse than yours
I am no weaker or stronger than anyone I know
But I take good care of myself and others souls

Kindness has been my virtue and I cultivate this trait
But innocence and gentleness are often confused with simple mindedness
It's only the thoughtless who have this base ignorance

It's too early in the morning to be thinking of anything but the thunder
And I hear it getting closer and I am wondering if it will bring rain
Oh Rain
A midsummer rain after a string of hot days
A midsummer morning came after a string of hot summer days
A mid summer morning rain after a string of HOT
